January First: A Child's Descent into Madness and Her Father's Struggle to Save Her

Michael Schofield

At age six, January ("Jani") Schofield was once clinically determined with essentially the most serious instances of child-onset schizophrenia on checklist. Hallucinating constantly, she is on the mercy of her imaginary friends—some of whom are pleasant, whereas others inform her to scream at strangers, bounce out of structures, and assault her child brother. Jani is torn among locations: "Calalini," the illusory domestic of her imaginary acquaintances, and our international. whilst powerful psychiatric medications that may point so much adults slightly faze her, the road dividing delirium from truth grows dangerously blurry.
Amid Jani's struggle are her mom and dad, who face possible insurmountable stumbling blocks day-by-day simply to hold either one of their teenagers alive and safe. Their conflict has integrated a two-year look for solutions, numerous medicinal drugs and hospitalizations, allegations of abuse, depression that nearly broke the relations aside and, ultimately, victories opposed to the disorder and a brand new religion that they could create a contented existence for Jani.
A passionate and inspirational account, January First is a father's soul-bearing memoir of the day-by-day demanding situations and unwavering dedication to avoid wasting his daughter from the sting of madness whereas doing every little thing he can to maintain his family members together.
