Cranford

Cranford

Elizabeth Gaskell

the radical Cranford grew out of a quick tale (now the 1st chapters) and it reads like a sequence of episodes within the fictional city of Cranford. The principal characters are Mary Smith and her acquaintances, the spinster sisters leave out Matty and leave out Deborah. it's a old fashioned, comedic ode to small city existence, and is still Gaskell's most famed paintings.
